Photo Gallery and Show Review: VALÉ and Luna Luna in Illinois

Lincoln Hall, a 500-cap venue in Chicago, IL, was graced by Latinx band, Luna Luna. Both Justice Hill and VALÉ warmed up the crowd for the main act, starting slow with piano tunes from Hill and picking up speed with VALÉ. The latter being a small artist originally from Colombia, now residing in LA, is heavily influenced by her culture using slang from her home country to inspire her upbeat Latinx/Pop music. She has worked with artists such as Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi, Halsey, and has even opened up for The Driver Era.

VALÉ’s set included popular songs like “fit mami” and “lo tengo mal,” utilizing Spanglish to energize the crowd in preparation for Luna Luna. Although most of the crowd wasn’t familiar with her music, she immediately captured their attention with her high energy and dancing. She taught the audience some of her choruses and a chant for her new unreleased song, “mugshot”.

Luna Luna did not deter the energy of the crowd, they came out soon after VALÉ’s set was done and played all the fan favorites, including “80’s Tune” and “Daydream.” The audience knew all the lyrics and were singing as they danced and cried. The band kept it interesting, asking the small crowd questions about how long couples were together before playing an intimate love song dedicated to them. They even played an unreleased song just for the crowd.

Overall, the show was special for both those who have been following the band for a while and for those who had just found them. Luna Luna provided excellent opening numbers to provide the audience with a fun warm-up, giving their all for Chicago.
