Last week, on an exceptionally warm April evening, Snail Mail (Lindsey Jordan) took over Brooklyn Paramount in New York and played an emotional and electrifying set featuring songs from her newest record, Ricochet, in addition to older fan favorites from previous releases.
This was something like a hometown show for Snail Mail, who spent a bit of her musical career residing in New York City. She moved to North Carolina in 2024, which is where she spent much of her time while creating Ricochet. This location shift was reflected on the venue’s stage, with the main props being a suburban home an white picket fence that primarily surrounded Snail Mail’s bandmates.
Snail Mail began her set with the opening track of Ricochet, “Tractor Beam,” which was followed by “My Maker,” mimicking the album’s tracklist. Throughout the evening, Lindsey’s vocals echoed throughout the venue, which are stronger than ever before thanks to the surgery she had on her vocal cords that removed polyps. Her voice was joined by those of the fans, who cheered and sang along to every tune, including during “Heat Wave,” “Valentine, and “Thinning.” Between songs, Lindsey thanked her fans for coming out to see the show and talked about how special it was to play a show in New York.
