Pittstown, New Jersey-based indie rock band The Happy Fits just wrapped up a 48 show tour spanning across 11 countries in support of their fifth album, Lovesick. The band is currently composed of Calvin Langman (lead vocals, cello), Luke Davis (drums), Nico Rose (guitar), and Raina Mullen (guitar). Their recent date at Irving Plaza in New York City was supported by Brooklyn-based indie rock/grunge band Pom Pom Squad, who did a fantastic job of kicking off the evening.
The energy in the air during the entire duration of the concert was palpable, with the headliner’s walkout song being “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Vallie, which the audience sang along to both loudly and enthusiastically. When the band burst out onstage, the crowd screamed and cheered, emphasizing the way that joy can impact even a room of strangers.
The evening primarily featured songs from Lovesick, but the band also did a fantastic job of incorporating songs from previous years into the setlist as well, including the fan favorites “So Alright, Cool, Whatever” and “She Wants Me (To Be Loved).” The cheerful banter among the band members between songs and overall theme of love throughout the evening made set the lively and heartfelt tone in the venue.
The Happy Fits were established back in 2016, and it is clear that after nearly a decade of making music together, this is only just the beginning for the talented group. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next!
