Photo Gallery and Show Review: Hannah Cohen in New York

Words and Photos by Sharron Lou

Hannah Cohen’s Nov 21 show at Music Hall of Williamsburg felt steady and intentional. When she first walked out, the room settled almost immediately. She had a calm, soothing presence that instantly pulled you in.

The production was simple. The lighting set a mood without being distracting (except for when the strobe lights accidentally went off). The band played with a warmth that complemented Hannah’s voice beautifully. Her vocals stayed graceful throughout the night.

The crowd helped shape the vibe as well. There were whole stretches where the room felt still in genuine attention. That atmosphere made the performance feel more intimate than the venue usually does. There were a few moments, however, when I wanted a little more variation. Maybe a track that pushed the energy slightly higher.

Walking out, I got the sense that Hannah wasn’t chasing some huge, show-stopping moment. It felt more like a step back to let each song breathe on its own terms. All in all, it turned out to be a great show, the kind that sticks with you more than you’d expect.
