This girl group is sparking massive discourse in the music world—and their rise to stardom may be one of the most successful achievements in this generation. Formed by the collaboration of the South Korean entertainment company, HYBE, and the California-based record label, Geffen, KATSEYE debuted in 2024 with the release of their first EP, SIS (Soft is Strong), which included their hit single, “Touch.”. The single quickly garnered the attention of many people, its music video receiving over 100 million views. Now, after much anticipation since the release of “Gnarly,” from their new EP, the girls have officially announced the release of BEAUTIFUL CHAOS.
The group, which consists of members Sophia, Daniela, Manon, Megan, Lara and Yoonchae, expressed in a social media post, “We are so excited to invite you into this beautiful and chaotic world that we have built. Thank you for being here.” The EP includes five uniquely individual songs: “Gnarly,” “Gabriela,” “Gameboy,” “Mean Girls,” and “M.I.A.”. With some songs taking on a more bold and powerful energy while others don a softer, more lighthearted one, KATSEYE reveals the different facets to themselves. In a Rolling Stone article about their new EP, Lara comments on this new era in their music: “It’s us stepping into our maturity. I feel like this era, we have been a lot more authentically ourselves. I don’t have to put on a facade of any kind when talking to anyone anymore. It’s a beautiful thing, and you can see that more within the album. You see more of our fire.” This rings true when you put BEAUTIFUL CHAOS and their previous EP, SIS (Soft is Strong), side-by-side–the girls are given more freedom to express themselves and experiment in their lyricism and music production. This new era has allowed the girls to discover what speaks true to them and to continue to find their voice. “It’s very much us,” says Sophia in an interview with Variety. “But it’s also us constantly evolving and finding ourselves. It’s a big transitional part of KATSEYE, in discovering who we are and the different sides of us.”
Their EP is available to listen to everywhere now, with accompanying music videos for “Gameboy,” “Gabriela,” and “Gnarly.” Strap yourselves in for this beautiful and chaotic ride—their EP will leave you with a whirlwind of emotions that can’t let you get their songs out of your head!
