Photo Gallery and Show Review: The Wrecks in Illinois

Last week, a pop punk band called The Wrecks played their headline show in Chicago, Illinois at The Concord Music Hall. The band, led by frontman Nick Anderson, self-released their own debut EP in 2016 to a small group of fans. Shortly after opening that same summer for Nothing But Thieves, their single “Favorite Liar” hit the Alternative charts and they gained a significant following. The band was officially signed to a label in 2019 and have since gained more and more popularity through releases such as, “Out of Style” and “Fvck Somebody.”

The show itself showed how close they’ve become with their fan base. The Wrecks put on an excellent show performing their hits and even some ‘deep cuts’. Both the fans and the band were entirely tuned in to the show — even in the far back, they were screaming lyrics word for word and dancing like nobody was watching. The acoustic section had the rest of the band, apart from Anderson, leave the stage and it was just as electrifying, showing an intimate and still energetic side of the band.

Throughout the show, Anderson bantered with fans, entered the crowd, and at the very end led a chant to have Chicago’s Lollapalooza invite the band back to perform (an important thing to the band since they haven’t performed since 2018). Safe to say, the Wrecks knocked it out of the park for the Chicago crowd and will always be welcome back.
