Known for her silky-rich vocals and sensual lyricism, R&B artist Sabrina Claudio surprises us with a new, dreamy single, “Before It’s Too Late.” The song dropped on Friday, April 11, along with a companion music video, donning a visual style that is reminiscent of The Notebook—and leaving us swooning!
Sabrina Claudio started writing music when she was only 15, and now at 28, has released six studio albums, along with a Christmas album titled Christmas Blues. Over her music career, Claudio has been Grammy nominated and placed on the Billboard 200 in 2017 for her second studio album, About Time. She has also collaborated with several distinguished artists for her songs including, ZAYN, The Weeknd and Alicia Keys. Recently, Claudio has signed with her new label, EMPIRE, to which she comments in a Billboard article, “They have been a blessing in my life. The support for the art I’ve created is unlike anything I’ve experienced before and I am beyond grateful to have partners who only want to enhance and champion my vision.”
Her latest release, “Before It’s Too Late,” takes on a storytelling that is more expressive and open-hearted than we’ve ever heard from her before, displaying her growth and evolution as a person and artist. The song talks about the desire to openly express one’s love for someone–no holding back, no doubts or fears getting in the way. It is the act of going all in, diving head-first into love, and letting them know how much you love them before it’s too late. In a comment about the dreamy ballad, Claudio explains that it’s “intended to encourage listeners to verbalize their thoughts and/or make an effort to make their love for one another visibly apparent. Before it’s too late to do so, before love is lost, before what’s done can’t be undone, before there is no time left.”
Accompanied by gentle acoustics and angelic harmonies, the song captures the feeling of loving and being in love, both lyrically and sonically. Claudio’s music video for the single displays shots of her and actor Ta’imura Lachlan Hannemann holding each other while driving in a convertible through a rural town, lying together on a picnic blanket, and enjoying each other’s company on a paddleboat over a sparkling lake. The visuals perfectly reflect the song’s heartwarming message. We can’t wait for more of Claudio’s work to come on this new journey—but in the meantime, we’ll take her advice and express our love for this single…before it’s too late.
