Photo Gallery and Show Review: Madelline in New York

Words and Photos by Katherine Cardinale

Madelline (yes, with two L’s!) has been on the rise since her single “Dopamine” (particularly the brain-itch-satisfying “Split Brain Version,” which features vocals in both English and French) came to prominence back in 2023. Over the past few years, she has built a fanbase with roots all over the world and caught the attention of millions of listeners on social media and major streaming services.

Madelline’s music is brutally honest, covering themes such as love, loss, and other major life challenges. Her discography celebrates what it feels like to grow up in the 2020’s, and it successfully blends ethereal vocals with relatable lyrics and catchy beats that are hard to forget.  Her latest release, “training wheels,” is a powerful breakup anthem that features an epic buildup and key change towards the end of the track.

Madelline recently embarked on her first ever headlining tour and made a stop at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, and it was a musical-theatre-esque performance that effortlessly blended her theatrical roots with fresh, upbeat pop sounds. Her concert at Baby’s featured comedy, music, and performance, solidifying her status as a triple threat and demonstrating her ability to easily combine multiple talents into one polished product. It was refreshing to hear Madelline talk about her decision to embrace her theatrical background and inner child, and one of the highlights of the night was when the entire room danced to her dance track “i’m only here for the beat.”

Madelline is wrapping up her tour in Washington, D.C. tonight, but be sure to stay on the lookout for new music and future show dates — she is not one to miss!
