Since 2018, Ross and Rocky Lynch have been rocking the world their eclectic yet evolving sound. With three albums under their belt, plus “Obsession” releasing April 11, the sibling duo has gained a dedicated following. Last Friday, March 7th, the sibling duo The Driver Era and their opener Thomas Day kicked off The Obsession Tour at FTL War Memorial in Fort Lauderdale. The show took place in a mid-size venue with a capacity that allowed for an intimate yet explosive experience.
Singer-songwriter Thomas Day graced the stage with his soulful acoustic songs. He entertained the crowd playing multiple instruments and talking with the audience during his set. His vulnerability in songs like “Masochist” and “Underwear” had the audience in awe and wanting to know more about Thomas Day. The future is bright for him. Once he left the stage, a white sheet fell from the ceiling of the stage, exciting the fans for what was to come.
Kicking off with the sultry, guitar-heavy “Touch,” The Driver Era’s silhouettes showing on the white fabric got the cowboy hat-wearing audience hooked. They kept the momentum going with singles from the upcoming album “You Keep Me Up at Night” and “Same Old Story.” New and longtime fans in attendance had the opportunity to hear some unreleased tracks from the upcoming album as well.
Besides Ross Lynch exuding rockstar energy and Rocky Lynch’s vibrant guitar work, their biggest advantage is their ability to genuinely connect with their audience. The audience was a vital part of the experience, responding enthusiastically by dancing crazy and singing along passionately to hits like “Rumors” and “Get Off My Phone.” Ross also had a video camera capturing the audience with live recording showing on the screen. During the final song of the set “A Kiss,” a kiss cam was shown on the screen, encouraging couples to showcase their love. It was a show that people will talk about and puts The Driver Era on notice!
