Photo Gallery and Show Review: Sun Room in California

Words and Photos by Gabe Gonzalez

On February 10th at 8pm in Fresno, California, Strummer’s was full of fans eagerly waiting for the show to start. Applause and cheering grew as the opening band, Ray and Paul, came on stage and started playing. After their first song, the crowd immediately became fans. The way the audience cheered for them would make you believe that they were the headliners. Ray and Paul loved the crowd and were bouncing off their energy; you could tell by the way they performed on stage. The band mentioned that Paul (the drummer) would be singing their next song, and the audience began chanting “PAUL, PAUL, PAUL” right before the band started it. After a lively performance, Ray and Paul thanked the audience before leaving the stage.

As fans waited for Sun Room to come on stage, they began getting on each others’ shoulders and started chanting for the band. As the venue music faded and the band walked out on stage, a roar of cheering and applause came from the crowd. This continued as Sun Room opened their set with “Just Yesterday.” After “Fun,” Sun Room performed a killer cover of “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star. Fans began putting their hands in the air and swaying from side to side. After performing a crowd favorite Sunset Garage, the crowd ended the song with roaring applause, and funnily enough, some barking as well. Sol De Sur, another crowd favorite, got everyone going once again, and the audience started jumping excitedly. Fans loudly sang along with the band. Sun Room ended the night with “Cadillac” and, surprisingly, a mosh pit broke out during the final performance.

Overall, Sun Room, as well as Ray and Paul, gave their audience an amazing show to remember. Sun Room’s energetic surf rock tunes made it feel like it was summertime in February. Make sure to catch them at one of their final three California shows of their West Coast tour next month!
