Photo Gallery and Show Review: Grace Gardner in New York

Words and Photos by Katherine Cardinale

Grace Gardner’s second headlining tour included a stop at Mercury Lounge on the Lower East Side in New York, which was their first time playing in Manhattan. Originally from Texas, Grace is a singer-songwriter, writer and producer who also knows how to play ten different instruments. They released their debut single “Radio Silence” in 2021 and have released three EPs and a number of additional songs since then.

New York’s own Americana pop singer-songwriter Sarah Gross opened the show and played a number of her own songs, including “Meet A Boy” and “Naturally,” as well as a cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please.” Sarah was engaging with the crowd and did an amazing job starting off the night!

After a brief break, Grace Gardner came onstage with their band and started their set with the song “Parcel.” The energy in the room was very warm and welcoming, and Grace made small talk with the audience after nearly every song. They explained the backstories behind their songs and talked about their songwriting and touring experiences. While introducing their band, they emphasized the importance and significance of their friendships. During the second half of the set, Grace covered “Champagne Supernova” by Oasis, which was a highlight for both the band and audience alike. Grace closed their show with the crowd favorite “Lubbock,” which features their good friend Caroline Carter on the studio version, before meeting fans at the merch stand.

If you haven’t seen Grace and Sarah in concert before, both of their upcoming performances are a must see!
